Mixed-Use Facility Including Apartments, Offices, Parking

RAPID CITY, SD--After a solid building year resulting in the second-highest number of permits issued with the fifth-largest amount of building valuation, the City of Rapid City is off to a good start in 2021.  City officials announced this week the issuance of a $14.7 million permit for construction of The Element, a four-story facility on  St. Joseph Street that combines apartments, retail/office space and an underground parking garage.

The permit was issued earlier this month by the City's Building Services Division to Paradigm Construction LLC of Sioux Falls with construction beginning immediately.  The facility, located at 100 St. Joseph Street, will include one floor of office retail space, three floors containing a total of 99 apartments and an underground parking garage.

Long-time residents may recall the location as the home of the old Imperial Hotel and Romans Ron De Vu as well as other business establishments.  The construction activity comes just three weeks shy of the five-year anniversary of the February 1, 2016 date when the old Imperial Hotel facility was leveled.
