Mission Statement:

The Water Division's primary mission is the delivery of a clean potable water product in ample supplies that meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water regulations for the customers on the Rapid City water system.

The singular responsibility of the Water Division is service. The employees of the Water Division understand that "Our rewards in life will always match our service." Combine good service with good attitudes and personal integrity and a winning environment is created.

Water Conservation Measures

City Ordinance 13.08.410 establishes the City’s authority to enforce water conservation measures. The Oridnance establishes four levels of restriction:

  • Normal Status: Watering restrictions apply during the months of June, July, and August of each year.
  • Concern Status: Watering restrictions apply from April 1 through September 30.
  • Alert Status: Water restrictions apply throughout the entire year.
  • Critical Status: No outside watering, regardless of hours or days, is permitted.

OWaiver of Conservation Restrictions for Irrigation Purposes

If you have newly installed sod or newly seeded areas of lawn which are covered with mulch, you may qualify for a waiver from watering restrictions. 

The application for a waiver is available HERE.
