America 250 Citizen Committees*

Rapid City’s America 250 Citizen Committees for the community’s observance of America’s 250th anniversary.

Numerous plans are underway to organize several events next year to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, with a focus on activities from July 1-5.  Activities include a community parade, downtown festival, arts and culture celebrations, contests and competitions, fireworks and drone shows.

Committees that will include citizens involvement include the following:

  • Arts & Culture Committee: Develop and organize events to include re-enactors, live performances and other arts and culture-related events;
  • Contests & Competitions Committee: Identify and plan contests and competitions to celebrate America’s 250 celebration;
  • Year-round Events Committee: Identify and potentially plan activities during 2026 to compliment the core activities taking place July 1-5, including coordination with organizations on events and activities as Rapid City America 250 events;
  • Downtown Festival Committee: Plan 3-4 day downtown festival to include major public events and activities including a chuckwagon cookoff and festival;
  • Volunteer Committee: Recruit and organize volunteers to work various Rapid City America 250 events;
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship Committee: Develop fundraising plan and work with corporate and private entities on sponsorships for events.
