Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on September 25, 2023 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along 4241 Triple Crown Drive per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A five-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed at the time of building permit along Triple Crown Drive, a two lane Collector street on the City’s Major Street Plan, with the property having approximately 130 feet of frontage along Triple Crown Drive. Triple Crown Drive is an urban street section with curb & gutter for drainage. The property is relatively flat with no topographic constraints that would preclude the installation of sidewalk. There is one option for sidewalk, install five-foot wide sidewalk one-foot inside the right-of-way from the property line. Public Works recommends denial of the sidewalk variance request.
