Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on June 05,2023 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along US Hwy 16, per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A four-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along US Hwy 16 at the time of building permit. All of the properties along US Hwy 16 are developed along with said property and no sidewalks in place. The property owner is remodeling an existing building on the property, triggering the need to install sidewalk. The requested variance will allow for construction on the property without the installation of sidewalk. The adjacent US Hwy 16 is a two lane, paved, rural street section with no sidewalks and topographical conflicts. Public Works recommends approval of this request.
