Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on February 4, 2022 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along Hidden Springs Road and 229th Street per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. The applicants are proposing to plat approximately 37 acres into three ranchette lots, known as Hidden Springs Ranchettes No. 3, in the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Hidden Springs Road and 229th Street. This platting requires the construction of approximately 1,300 feet of four-foot wide sidewalk along Hidden Springs Road and 1,250 feet of five-foot wide sidewalk along 229th Street. All other public improvements have been waived by Public Works through the Exception process (City Files 21EX201 – 21EX206). The requested variance will allow for development of the property without the installation of sidewalk. The property is outside of City limits but within the 3-mile platting jurisdiction. Public Works recommends approval of this request.
