Agenda Item Summary:
The requested grant would cover 81.95% of the eligible costs for design, construction and construction administration to replace the existing structure with a reinforced concrete box culvert. The existing structure is currently posted at a 50% load reduction and the structure’s load rating cannot be increased with a rehabilitation project, therefore replacement of the structure is in the City’s best interest. The project proposes to replace the existing bridge with a reinforced concrete box culvert, with the final size to be determined during design. There are approximately $40,000 of water main replacement costs associated with the project that will be ineligible for the grant reimbursement. The City’s match portion of the grant will be paid through Water Enterprise funds, existing 2019 grant funds received from the DOT through the Highway Infrastructure Program Funds (in the amount of $164,124.96) and any additional costs not covered shall come from CIP Street Funds (CIP No 51194). If selected, the DOT will administer the design, bid the project, and complete construction observation. The City will provide input throughout the design, bidding and construction process. Approximate eligible project costs (this total does not include the water main costs stated above) are as follows: Total Cost = $740,000. Federal Share (81.95%) = $606,430. Local Share (18.05%) = $133,570.
