Agenda Item Summary:
City Staff applied for, and was awarded, 2019 Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) funds for preservation and repair work to the East Main Street North bridge. This structure connects Saint Joseph Street to La Crosse Street and serves both the Pennington County Fairgrounds and the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. In addition, the City bike path utilizes this structure to cross Rapid Creek and it is in close proximity to the City’s Street Department Maintenance Facility. All initial funding will be CIP-Streets and per the agreement, the SDDOT will reimburse the City for 80% of the actual construction engineering services for the project, and 75% of all other project work, not to exceed $553,500.00. All work must be completed by March 28, 2023 to be eligible for reimbursement. Design of the rehabilitation work is scheduled for 2020 and construction to follow in 2021.
