Carissa Almanza with Copper Canyon Homes has purchased several properties adjacent to the 800 block of St. James Street. The residential structure at 818 St. James was originally constructed with a small covered porch encroaching into the right-of-way (ROW). The covered porch used to have support posts under the outer edge of the roof, and the applicant is requesting permission to reinstall three support posts under the outer edge of the roof and install additional sidewalk around the porch. The applicant has received approval of the restoration by the Historical Preservation Committee. The City will retain the right to have the encroachment removed should the ROW be needed for a future infrastructure or public improvements project. The covenant agreement will be filed at the Register of Deeds to protect both the City and the Landowners interested.
