Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on February 15th, 2019 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along 12th Street per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. The requested variance will allow for construction of a residence on the property without the installation of sidewalk in the adjacent 12th Street right-of-way. A four-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along 12th Street at the time of building permit, the topography does not allow for sidewalk to be constructed. There is sidewalk directly across the road to the East, but there is no sidewalk along the West side of 12th Street for this sidewalk to tie into. 12th Street is a local street and for the most part is completely developed, Public Works recommends approval of the sidewalk variance request.
