Agenda Item Summary:
The City and SD Department of Transportation currently have an Agreement in place for repairs to the railroad crossing on Lacrosse Street. Upon further analysis of the crossing condition, it was determined the initially identified repairs would not adequately address the deficiencies of the railroad track and subsidence of the roadbed, and would require reconstruction within the next few years. With the concurrence of the Railroad, SDDOT and City, the scope of the project has been adjusted to include complete removal and rehabilitation of the roadbed, ballast and subgrade; underdrains and panel rail replacement, in addition to the previously identified precast concrete crossing panels and street repairs. The amended total project cost is estimated at $115,070.00 with the City’s 10% share estimated at $11,507.00. The City’s original estimated cost share was $5,964.40.
