Agenda Item Summary:
The applicant has submitted a Rezoning request to change the zoning designation of the property at 2110 Provider Boulevard from Medium Density Residential District (MDR) to Public District (P). The property is owned by the City and is comprised of 1.31 acres and is currently undeveloped. The Future Land Use designation of the property is Urban Neighborhood, which lists the Public District as a secondary zoning district. In 2019, The Planning Commission approved a Major Amendment to a Planned Development Overlay (File #19PD005) to allow a public park at this location. The City of Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department intends to build a park on the subject property to provide a public service for the surrounding community. The Public District provides for facilities which serve the general public, including those operated by a municipality. Parks, playgrounds and playfields are a permitted use in the Public District.
