The applicant has submitted a Rezoning request to change the zoning designation of the property at 5301 and 5603 Mount Rushmore Road, Lots 1 and 2 of IGT Subdivision, from Business Park District (BP) to Office Commercial District (OC). The Future Land Use designation is Employment, which supports the OC District zoning. The property is comprised of 29.61 acres and is developed with the former National American University campus. The Children’s Home Society of South Dakota has purchased the property and plans to occupy the existing building with a group home, child care center, office, and medical clinic under a future Planned Development Overlay. The applicant should be aware that the group home use will require review and approval of a Conditional Use Permit to determine if it is a compatible use in this neighborhood.
