Agenda Item Summary:
The applicant has submitted a Major Amendment to a Planned Development Overlay to expand an existing cemetery. The proposal increases the size of the lot from 1.45 acres to 2.62 acres. In the Final Planned Development, File #16PD028, an Exception was granted to reduce the minimum required side yard setback from 35 feet to 0 feet, and paving requirements for the existing gravel access and five parking spaces were waived. The applicant has stated that the cemetery is for the private use of the Diocese of Rapid City and the adjacent Saint Martin Monastery. With this application, the applicant is requesting two Exceptions: 1) to reduce the rear yard setback from 25 feet to 5 feet to accommodate existing burial lots; and 2) an Exception to the 20-acre minimum lot size requirement for cemeteries.
