Agenda Item Summary:
This resolution will add the Holiday Inn Express – Rushmore South, located at 1611 Caregiver Circle, to the City’s Business Improvement District No. 1. This BID consists of all hotels within Rapid City that have 50 or more guest rooms. The list of hotels is kept on file with the Finance Office per § 3.24.020 of the municipal code. New hotels are added by resolution of the Council. Each hotel in the District charges an occupancy tax of $2 per night per room, which is remitted to the City. The revenue raised, less administrative expenses, is forwarded to Visit Rapid City, where it is used to market and promote the city and the hotels in the District.
