Summary of 11.1 Reviews

4/22/25 – 25RS003/CIHR25-0007 (717 South Street) – Project consists of restoring the front chimney and removing the rear chimney on the residence, which is a contributing structure in the West Boulevard Historic District. A mason has confirmed that the front chimney on the north portion of the home is made from bricks likely from the time period when the home was built (1880-1890) and the property owner believes these bricks to be handmade. The rear chimney located towards the south portion of the home was built with mass produced bricks dated post-1920 and is non-functional. The disinigration of the rear chimney presents a safety hazard as well as a possible source of weather damage to the home. The restoration of the front chimney and the removal of the rear chimney will help to restore the home to the time period it was built. SHPO determined no adverse effect on 4/22/25.

4/22/25 – 25RS004/CIHR25-0008 (905 Columbus Street) – Project consists of replacing 2 sets of double-hung windows on the west side of the home, off of the kitchen. The residence on this property is a contributing structure in the West Boulevard Historic District. The windows that are being replaced are not historic and were installed in the 1990’s. These existing windows have a metal-clad exterior and are affixed with plastic divided light grille inserts to simulate an 8-over-8 pattern on each set of double-hung windows. These windows will be replaced with 2 Marvin 37” x 37” awning windows with a metal-clad exterior and a wooden interior. Each window will have a 5x5 simulated divided light pattern, to match other historic wind with bars on the interior and exterior of the glass and spacer bars between the glass. The existing wood trim will be replaced with a wood trim of the same size. SHPO determined no adverse effect on 4/22/25.

4/23/25 – 25RS005/CIHR25-0009 (912 Saint James Street) – Project consists of replacing the existing 3-window bay on the front of the home. The residence on this property is a non-contributing structure in the West Boulevard Historic District. The window bay is not original to the home and consists of a vinyl picture window surrounded by 2 vinyl double-hung windows, with an asphalt shingle roof. The existing bay was not structurally supported and has sagged significantly, causing the windows to let in water and cold air. The replacement window bay will be made of structurally engineered materials and will consist of a picture window surrounded by 2 double-hung windows, with an asphalt shingle roof. SHPO determined no adverse effect on 4/23/25.

4/22/25 – 25RS006/CIHR25-0006 (826 Saint James Street) – Project consists of replacing a portion of siding on the rear of the home. The residence on the property is a contributing structure in the West Boulevard Historic District. The home is sided with a historic wooden clapboard siding with a 2 1/2” reveal on the first story and wood shakes on the 2nd story. A portion of the siding has been damaged on the back of the home and will be removed and replaced with like materials. The replacement siding will consist of cedar lap siding with a 2 1/2” reveal on the 1st level of the home and cedar shakes on the 2nd level. SHPO determined no adverse effect on 4/22/25.

4/17/25 – 25RS002/CIHR25-0005 (1611 9th Street) – Project consists of installing one exterior walk-through door to the east side of the detached garage. Both the residence and detached garage on this property are listed as contributing structures in the West Boulevard Historic District. The new door will be located on the east side of the garage, which is not visible from the 9th Street. There is a fence located between the garage and the house, therefore the new door will not be visible from the alley either. The new door will be a 36” x 80” solid-core wood door with a glass window and two panel design with wood trim around it. Currently the garage only has one overhead door and this proposed new door will provide a second point of egress. SHPO determined no adverse effect on 4/17/25.
