Agenda Item Summary:
Change order is necessary to reduce maintenance costs and improve safety for the Solid Waste Division in operating the new Landfill Gas Flare. Change order upgrades to retractable thermocouples which can be changed from ground level eliminating the need for a man lift. (Thermocouples are mounted approximately 40 feet above grade). Change order adds shutdown valves, sensors, and controls for the existing boiler which currently heats three buildings improving operational safety. Change Order replaces pneumatic valves, actuators, and controls with electric valves, actuators, and controls. This change will reduce maintenance costs and downtime, and eliminate the need for the addition of two air compressors, dryers, and a compressor enclosure quoted at $57,151. Finally change order extends the contract end date from April 30, 2025 to July 3, 2025 to allow time to procure the additional equipment and make the changes to the flare.
