Agenda Item Summary:
The City of Rapid City, Solid Waste Division operates an enclosed flare to burn methane gas that is produced from closed landfill cells. Operation of this system is required by state and federal air quality regulations. The operation of this system is permitted through the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Permit No. 28.1101-02. The Permit requires an Annual Compliance Report and Certification be submitted. Item authorizes the Mayor to sign the Annual Compliance Report and Certification. The City was in compliance with the permit during the 2022 reporting period.
