Agenda Item Summary:
The Federal Replacement Project Grant is an apportionment of Highway Infrastructure Program Funds pursuant to the DOT Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, 2022. If awarded, preliminary engineering, construction, and construction engineering costs are eligible at 100% federal aid. The City of Rapid City will be responsible for any non-participating costs, as typical for SDDOT projects. Examples of non-participating costs are City utility relocations, surface restoration work outside the project limits, etc. If the replacement grant is not awarded for the structure, the application will be eligible for a 2023 Bridge Improvement Grant Preliminary Engineering (BIG PE). The BIG PE will include the structure replacement type (i.e. bridge or box culvert) and size, as well as include all necessary environmental and subsurface investigations. The BIG PE is cost shared as 80% SDDOT/20% City funds.
