A request was received in the Engineering Office on August 12, 2019 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along Oakland Street per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A sidewalk is required to be constructed along the full frontage of Oakland Street at the time of building permit, with the property having approximately 610 feet of frontage along Oakland Street. The requested variance is to waive the requirement to install sidewalk west of the Oakland Street / 6th Street intersection, a distance of approximately 240 feet and will allow for construction of an addition and renovations on the property. Staff is in agreement with the justification from the applicant and support the request.
