Agenda Item Summary:
The applicant has submitted a Rezoning request to change the zoning designation of the property north of Canyon Drive and east of Sunnyvale Drive from Medium Density Residential District (MDR) to Public District (P). The property is owned by the City and is comprised of 0.3 acres, containing a well house with an existing well. The Future Land Use designation of the property is Urban Neighborhood, which lists the Public District as a secondary zoning district. The existing well house is no longer in use due to equipment failures. The City of Rapid City Public Works Department intends to demolish this building and rebuild the facility with proper setbacks for the Public District. The Public District provides for facilities which serve the general public, including those operated by a municipality, and utilities are a permitted use in the Public District to aid in the development of efficient systems.
