Agenda Item Summary:
As part of implementation of the Downtown Area Master Plan, the City undertook a Downtown Area Parking Study and Strategic Plan utilizing assistance from a Walker Consultants, Inc. and participation from a Parking Study Advisory Committee. The goal of the Study was to focus on improvements in parking management, pricing, enforcement and technologies. This Study provides the City with current data, analysis, and recommendations to implement improvements to the parking system. The project scope included project coordination, and existing conditions assessment, future parking needs assessment, community outreach, review of public-private partnership opportunities, and plan development. The consultants have completed the scope of work and will present the study outcomes and recommendations to the City Council for their approval. Staff is requesting the council to acknowledge the study and guide next steps by establishing a parking advisory committee and directing staff to develop a more detailed parking implementation strategy based on the recommendations in the parking study.
